The X Series explores whether an abstract sign, once detached from narrative and function, can still directly activate human perception. Inspired by the Suprematist ideas of Kazimir Malevich, Duen Studio treats the X as a perceptual device, a point of convergence for direction, lines of force, and spatial tension. The series does not aim to develop a formal language, but rather to continuously investigate how this sign exists in three-dimensional space, how it transforms from a flat symbol into volume, structure, and a force within space. To grant this sign a physical presence, the works are based on highly rational metal structures. Through bending, rotation, stretching, and twisting, the X shifts from a geometric state into an organic volume. At the same time, the rigid metal is often entirely enveloped in warm, soft, and tactile materials, and in some cases its original structural order is deliberately disrupted. This approach to structure is not a formal strategy, but a way of allowing the material, once stripped of its industrial logic, to reveal a more essential sense of tension and vitality, thereby supporting the central idea of the coexistence of rationality and emotion. The user does not simply use these pieces of furniture. Through contact, the body directly senses the force of the structure, the temperature of the material, and the tension of the form. The objects exist in space with the autonomy of sculpture, while at the same time establishing subtle relationships with the scale of the human body, influencing paths of viewing, circulation, and ways of inhabiting and pausing. The X Series is therefore not merely an object to be seen or used, but a presence capable of transforming spatial perception and bodily experience.
